A Brief Introduction

My name is Sean Kennedy and I'm looking for the next big step in my digital career. Over the last 8+ years, I've worked in various roles in different agencies and have even started my own businesses. However, I'm looking to join a team of passionate and like-minded people where my leadership experience in web development and the digital tech industry can contribute to further success. Sound good so far? Awesome! Check out my information below and let's connect to discuss more details.

  What else do you do?

I’m a sponge for knowledge and can easily consider learning a hobby of mine. When I’m not working or engaging the startup community, I'm usually reading a number of blogs on increasing business knowledge, working my way through a number of online courses on Treehouse or reading a new book.

Recently, I’ve read “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie and both "Rework" and "Remote" by the team at Basecamp (formerly 37Signals). I'm now reading "What color is your parachute?" by Richard Bolles as a practical manual for job hunters. An interesting (and timely) read.

Some of the other blogs and websites I read regularly include:

  What about for fun?

I'm an easy-going guy who loves his down time. When I get to relax, I love to travel, go rollerblading, hike up a mountain, go snowshoeing, play sports like hockey or martial arts, or lose myself in a video game.

I'm also trying to learn the guitar, Spanish, and how to long board.

The BIG Question

Why should we hire you?

I've been working in the digital marketing industry for the last 8-years and worked with many different tools, clients, and projects in agency atmospheres. I've gained a lot of experience in regards to web development and online marketing that would be very beneficial to a digital or tech company looking to grow to the next level.

Company culture is something very important to me. I hold many values like choosing positivity and optimism over anything else, being transparent, checking egos at the door, sharing ideas and knowledge, and always focusing on self-improvement and living healthy.

You're looking for amazing people to grow your team and that you can trust to just "do their thing". I'm looking for a great team with a culture that not only focuses on great work but also believes in having fun and loving what they do. I'm ready to take the next big step in my career and a company to push to the next level. Sound like a fit?

Don't take my word for it.

Bob Logan
Account Director, Graphically Speaking

I was recently managing a startup called Pitch'n to try and promote volunteerism and help non-profits. However, I decided to close it down at the end of May 2014. It isn't a failure as long as you learned something though, right? Well, I learned more than I could ever imagine and value all the experience gained.

These days, I’m working with small businesses and entrepreneurs to help with their email marketing campaigns as a freelance MailChimp Expert.

I also volunteer and spend my time to a couple side projects. Currently, I'm working on a project called Really Good Emails building an online gallery of all the best emails out in the wild. I manage all the MailChimp goodness for them and am one of the resident email geeks.

Looking to get even more involved with the startup community, I previously co-organizer for Startup Weekend Vancouver. I led a team of volunteers to organize the Startup Weekend Vancouver events in November of 2014 and 2015.

In the summer of 2015, Camp Tech opened in Vancouver to offer educational workshops for people looking to learn skills in WordPress, Photoshop, Google Analytics, InDesign, MailChimp, and many other tools. I joined the team to lead their email marketing course for Vancouver and teach a monthly workshop to help introduce people to email marketing with MailChimp.

While not an avid copywriter, I do enjoy reviewing and writing about tools and apps. I have written a few reviews on my own blog, but have also done some freelance writing for Zapier. You can view my articles on Zapier's Blog.

Last, but certainly not least, I've always loved TED videos and have brought that passion to volunteer my expertise to the local TEDxVancouver team. In 2014, I was the Team Lead for Email Communication. In 2015, I stepped back from this role but still advise for their email marketing strategies.

Yea, I know. I'm a bit of a workaholic. I'm on step 1 of a 12-step plan...

Digital Marketing Manager | Mobify

I develop, implement, track, and optimize the global digital marketing campaigns for all Mobify’s digital channels. This includes display ads, SEO, CRO & A/B testing website usability, managing marketing automation & email marketing campaigns, and managing the day-to-day operations and performance of the website.
